Before uploading product images, it is essential to know the different product configurations enabled and make the proper adjustments before proceeding with the image upload. You will find all product-related image configurations listed in Configurations > Picture Size of the Web Manager.

Image Sizes
When a product is uploaded, 4 sizes of the same image are created as a default (If LargeSizeCreatesOthers is enabled.).

  • Large - Full-size image. Loaded when the product image on the product page is zoomed.
  • Medium - Image of the product that appears on the product page.
  • Thumbnail/Icon - Image of the product that appears on the product search results or category pages.
  • Cart - Image of the product that appears on the shopping cart page.

Image File Size
Keep the large image file size under 200KB whenever possible to optimize the product image upload and product page loading speed. You may use online free image optimizers/compressors (TinyPNG, Optimizilla, Imagify, or Smush) or lower the threshold in the ImageQuality appconfig to lower the image size. Uploading images as large as 1MB may result in:

  • Upload progress stuck
  • Product image not loaded
  • Slow page loading speed

Image Dimension
Keep image dimensions within the defined limit for large-size image configurations - DefaultWidthLarge and DefaultHeightLarge. Any images uploaded bigger than the limit will be automatically resized.

Image Formats
It is recommended to use the following standard formats for image files. You may use online image converters (TinyPNG, CloudConvert, Convertio, or FreeConvert) to change the image format.

  • .jpg - For the smallest size. Although considered as the same file format, uploading files with the .jpeg extension may result in a broken or invalid image.
  • .png - For the highest quality and transparent background
