Flex Assembly Items is an assembly item with some added option, it refers to products that are assembled and are sold as a complete unit. The Flex Build Assembly function lets you create assembly items and/or work orders. 

Create a New Flex Assembly Item


  1. Inventory Module > Item > New Item. The New Item Wizard will display.


  2. Choose Assembly and select Next.
  3. Enter the necessary information under General and Unit Measure and Category and select Next.
  4. Checked the check box "Flex Assembly" and entered the Item components.

Notes: The system will require to selection of at least 1 component to accumulate. When the accumulate check box is checked, it will add up the quantities totaled and added for each "build quantity" entered.

         

    5. Complete the Item setup by entering the cost and pricing information.

Building Assemblies using Flex Assembly Item

     1. From the Inventory Module > Assembly > New Flex Assembly Build

      

     2. The Inventory Assembly screen will be displayed.

     3. Select the assembly item to build. The Build Assembly form will be displayed.

     4. Specify the quantity of the assembly items to build in the Build Quantity field.

Notes: The system will require that the Build quantity should be greater than or equal to the component's total accumulated quantity.

       

     5. The Transaction Date or build date is set to the current date. You may change this to the actual date.

     6. Add Notes to the current build.

     7. The Components tab lets you know the stock quantity for each assembly component and know if it will suffice for the specified build quantity.

         The component items are listed per category.

       

    8. The Short Quantity column shows if the stock of the assembly component is not enough. This is just to inform you of any short quantity.

        You may proceed with the build quantity you entered even if there is no stock for the item.

Notes: You may view the stock information for each assembly component by selecting the component from the list and clicking on the Stocking Levels tab.

     9. Save the details before closing the form or save and post to add the build quantity. The assembly item now has stock in the selected location.

Notes: Save and Post will post the build assembly and the system will no longer allow changes in the build assembly form, make sure all information is correct.
