Port Number Issue in Setting Up Order Notification in the Website Using Gmail Account

Synopsis:

Getting an error when clicking on Send Test Receipt while setting up the Order Notification email using a Gmail Account

  • Mail Server DNS - smtp.gmail.com
  • Mail Server Username - my gmail email address
  • Mail Server Password - my gmail email address password
  • Mail Server TCP Port - 465
  • Mail Server requires SSL - Yes

 

Receipt Email Failed: 

Mail Error occurred - Exception=The operation has timed out.


Solution

Error is caused by the Port Number value in the Mail Server TCP Port. The port number use in the Order Notification for Gmail Account in the website should be port 587e.g. Mail Server TCP Port - 587
