In the Connected Business eCommerce module, string resources are defined only for the default selling language. If in case, you want to show your site in multiple languages, you need to configure the string resources for all other supported languages. This will show you how to set up string resources for it to display for other preferred languages.

You may encounter errors when string resources are not properly set up or have never been configured for a specific language. Follow the instructions below to learn how to set up string resources for other languages on your website.

Step 1 – Export String Resource

From the eCommerce module, click Setup > String Resource. The String Resource window will display.  When exporting string resources, you will have to manually select string resources per selling language per website. If the default selling language is set to English – United States, we will use the exported data to be able to use it for other selling languages.

To export string resources, click on the Export button from the menu options. On the Option Setting pop-up window, select the Language Code from the Locale Setting field and the Website Code. Click OK to begin exporting the file. You will be asked to save the Excel format file on your computer, and then provide the name of the file.

Step 2 – Modify String Resource Values on the Excel File

You may use the exported file as a template for other supported languages in Connected Business as needed. However, when you want to modify the file you only need to modify the String Value column for existing String Names to be able to reflect the changes on the website. If you want to create a new string name, you may add it to the list as well as the string value.

To enable other selling languages, click Setup > Selling LanguageSelect the language you want to include by ticking the Include column.

To apply the changes made to the file, click on the View Missing Strings button from the menu until strings are searching for missing strings are completed.

Step 3 – Import Modified String Resource

The modified file which will serve as your template can now be imported to the Connected Business system. From the eCommerce module, click Setup > String Resource. On the String Resource window, click the Import button from the options, then select the modified Excel file.

After selecting the file, select the Locale to which you would like the string resources to be uploaded. Click OK on the Locale Setting pop-up window.

After the string resource is successfully imported, you may now close the String Resource Form.

After a successful import, you need to reset the web cache to be able to see the changes made to the selected language. From the eCommerce module, select Webstore. Click Reset Web Cache from the menu options.
