The Product Filtering feature of Connected Business allows you to control what products can be seen by your different customers on the website. This feature lets you define product groups that can be assigned to various customer types. Once assigned, customers can only view the products defined in the group where they belong.

Enable Product Filtering

To enable the Product Filtering feature,

  1. Go to eCommerce module > Setup > Application Configuration. The Application Configuration window will be displayed.
  2. In the Application Configuration window, enter the word “filter” in the search control field, The list of all filter-related app configs will be displayed.
  3. Select AllowProductFiltering app config and set the config value to TRUE.
  4. Click Save and Close to apply changes.
  5. Click on Reset Web Cache in the Webstore form to apply the changes in the Webstore.

 

Create the Product Filter Template

To create a template for your product filter,

  1. Go to eCommerce module > Setup > Product Filter > New Product Filter. The Product Filter Template Wizard will be displayed.
  2. Enter the product filter name in the Template Name field (e.g. My Template). Click Next to continue.
    Note: If you want to use an existing product filter, you can tick the Create a Sub Template checkbox and select the product filter from the Master Template list.
  3. In the Select Category page, select which categories you want to be included in the product filter. By default, all categories are included in the product filter. To exclude a category, simply untick the checkbox right next to the category. You can also use the Include All or Exclude All icons if you want to include all or exclude all categories in the product filter. Click Next to continue.
  4. In the Select Items page, select which items to include in the category selected for the product filter.
  5. Click Next and Finish to close the wizard.

 

Assign Product Filter

You can assign a product filter to a class template or to a specific customer.

Assign Product Filter to Class Template

  1. Go to Customer module > Setup > Customer Class Template. The Customer Class Template window will be displayed.
  2. Select the class template where you want to assign the product filter (e.g. Default Retail Customer Class Template). The Customer Class Template Detail form will be displayed.
  3. In the Template Detail form, go to the Product Filter section and select the product filter from the drop-down list.
  4. Click Save and Close to apply changes.

Assign Product Filter to Customer

  1. Go to Customer module > Customer > Find Customer. The list of active customers will be displayed.
  2. Select a customer from the Bill ToShip To, or My Customers list. The Customer Detail form will be displayed.
  3. In the Customer Detail form, go to the Setup tab > Product Filter and select the product filter to be assigned to the customer.

Assign Product Filter to Contact

After assigning the product filter to the customer, assign the product filter to the website to which the contact has access.

  1. Still, in the Customer Detail form, go to the Contact tab > Web Option and set the web access for the customer by entering the details for the following fields (if not yet set up): 
    • Username – The username for the website.
    • Password – The password for the website.
    • Allow Web Access – Tick this option to give the customer access to the website.

  2. Assign the product filter to the website. Go to the Product Filter tab and select the template from the dropdown list.
  3. Click Save and Close to apply changes.
  4. Go to the webstore to verify if the template is applied.
Note: Aside from the categories and items set for the product filter, no items will be available for the selected contact when he/she browses the website.

Modify Product Filter

If you want to modify an existing product filter,

  1. Go to eCommerce module > Setup  > Product Filter > Find Product Filter. The list of existing product filter templates will be displayed.
  2. Select the template you want to modify and click the Details tab to view the template details.
  3. Click on Modify Template to load the Product Filter Template Wizard.  Modify the template through the wizard.
