Synopsis:

Running the Import manager or doing export and import from Excel in CB Desktop/Client Apps will display an error "The 'Microsoft.ACE.OLEDB.12.0' provider is not registered on the local machine"

Solution:

The Import Manager and CB Desktop/Client Apps export and import of Excel files are using the Microsoft Access Database Engine and you will need to install the Microsoft Access Database Engine 32-bit and 64-bit installer, you can download the installer at the link below:

Microsoft Access Database Engine 2010 Redistributable

https://www.microsoft.com/en-ph/download/details.aspx?id=13255

If you have a 64-bit MS Office, You cannot install the 2010 or 2016 Access database engine with a different processing architecture from your Office install (or install both versions of the 2010 or 2016 Access database engine) without a workaround. If you try, you will get an error message.

Please follow the workaround below, Install from the Command Line and Use the Quite or Passive Switch.

  1. Open the command prompt.
  2. Type the file path and file name for your Access Database Engine install file.
  3. Follow it with a space and then “/passive” and then hit Enter.

Note: MS Access 2016 the switch is /quiet and 2010 is /passive.
